My Reflection on 2013 & Resolution for 2014

Just like previous years (here, here and here), this post serve as my first official blogpost for the brand new year 2014. Nothing much interesting things happened to my life except for travel, which indirectly being part and parcel of my life within these few years. As for my working life, I received few freelance jobs that able to support few of my trips and because of that too, I able to fully sponsor my mom a trip to Japan. Well like they said, "Work hard, Play harder!"

Simplified it and here's the recap of my travel adventures for the year 2013:

  • January - Johor Bahru & Singapore. Boyfie & I went Johor Bahru just for the sake of Legoland. We also spend a day trip to Singapore. Thanks to AirAsia 1Malaysia Integration Programme by offering 10,000 free seats to all Malaysian early of the year where we managed to grab such a grab deal as low as RM15 for a return ticket KK-JB-KK.
  • February - Bangkok, Thailand. My family and I went to the Capital of Smile for Chinese New Year holiday. Within less than half a year, I went Bangkok twice and I really love to return there again. Oh boy! I think Bangkok has put spell on me.
  • March - Siem Reap, Cambodia. A small gathering with my collegemates to Kingdom of Wonder. We spend completely 6 days in Siem Reap itself and cover most of those top attractions such as Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, Ta Phrom, Tonle Sap and more.
  • June - Hatyai, Thailand. Impromptu decision with a very good friend of mine. For someone who has bitten by travel bugs and not being able to travel for more than 3 months, the heart and leg were indeed super duper itchy for not able to leave footprints in elsewhere within that period. Hence, it was kinda last minute booking and luckily the airfares were a great steal where I got a return airfare KK-KL-KK via Malaysia Airlines for just RM136 and KL-Hatyai-KL via AirAsia for only RM161.
  • July & August - Central & Northern, Laos. To continue another journey of mine for South East Asia adventures and this time around, I went with a humble and friendly Malaysian travel blogger, Jeff Chuah. It was a freaking long bus ride where we started from Yangon Vientiane to Vang Vieng, Phonsavan, Luang Prabang and finally ended back to Vientiane again. In total, more than 24 hours bus ride for 8 days trip #butthurt but then, it was indeed one of the greatest adventures in my entire life and now, I'm looking forward for another South East Asia long overland trip.
  • September - Kuching, Kedah & Penang. It's like Cuti-Cuti Malaysia month for me. Early of the month, went Kuching for my cousin's wedding and in the middle of the month, went Kedah & Penang for my very best friend's wedding. Seriously, I was putting on more weight cause both Sarawak & Penang are well-known to be food city. So sinful but then it's really  hard for me to resist all those heavenly foods.
  • October - Japan. It was a birthday treat for my mom cause she always wanna go this Land of the Rising Sun. Flew with Malaysia Airlines for just a return ticket that cost RM797, it was indeed a great steal and we're purely focus on certain Kansai area such as Osaka, Nara, Himeji, Kobe and Kyoto. Now, both of us pray hard for another Malaysia Airlines great deal to Japan again.
  • November - Kota Bharu. Being invited with few Sabahan bloggers together fellow medias for an exclusive 4D3N Media Fam Trip to Kota Bharu, Kelantan in conjunction with the inaugural flight of this significant new route which AirAsia is the first carrier to connect between both East Malaysia and East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia directly.
  • November & December - Taiwan. My year end trip with Boyfie. For this trip, we also tagged along Boyfie's best friend also tagged along and within 7 days, we covered both Taipei and Taichung.

Oh dear! If not cause I cancelled my trip to China and Vietnam with few of #TravelholicAwesome members that took place in April and May, I guess I'll travel almost every month. Part of my travel plans were booked earlier but there were some consider kinda last minute booking such as to Hatyai, Japan and media fam trip invitation to Kota Bharu. It's not my intention to travel every month but there were some beyond my control somehow.

All in a nutshell, 2013 is another year I included another two new countries into my list (Cambodia and Laos) and visited few new cities. I also managed to repeat my 2010 travel history - visited Japan and Taiwan for second time, which was part of my travel #wishlist. I totally lost count on how many times I flew with plane but I really enjoy the feeling of boarding on a plane since I was a month old baby.

Speaking about blogosphere, little did I know this little tiny blog of mine has reached another milestone whereby I received few media familiarization trip invitations from Malaysia Airlines, Malindo Air, AirAsia, Legend Resort Cherating Pahang (specially thanks to Fienuts for the recommendation) and more. But I know for sure that this blog of mine couldn't go any further if without any support from my blog readers. Once again, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to extend my gratitude to every reader of mine for the continuously supporting my blog!

As for this year resolution, I decided not to have another unforeseeable long list cause I didn't manage to accomplish my 2012 resolution. What a failure! Now all I can do is let what may come and brace myself for another possible adventures in this brand new year. But of course, like every other years, I wish to travel endlessly.

Till then...

My Birthday Celebration 2013

A lil bitsy piece of my personal post but still, it still relate to my travelling life (for some).

Whether the celebration was celebrated with full of blast or even a happening and lively celebration, it doesn't matter to me cause I felt more grateful and blissful surrounding by my beloved family and friends for the past few days before and also during my birthday itself.

But among all my birthday celebration for this year, the most unforgettable was my early celebration in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Seriously, I never thought that my collegemates will eventually went and look for birthday cake with the help of our driver without my acknowledgement. And when I posted the photo below in Facebook, they told me how difficult to buy the cake and at the same time, trying hard to hide the cake so I won't found out. It's indeed so touching but at the same time, I laughed non-stop for their silly actions.

#1: Thank you so much my friends and looking forward for our next trip.

Birthday 2013 @ The Glass Grill & Bar
#2: Dinner treat at the newly opened The Glass Grill & Bar by my crazy besties

My dearest crazy bestie will never miss out to celebrate this meaningful day with me almost every year. It's kinda hard for us to catch up with each other nowadays due to our busy schedule especially myself, who always busy with globetrotting here and there but I glad that night, we laughed and talked like no other business.

Birthday 2013 @ Japanese Dream House Restaurant
#4: Brunch with my family in Japanese Dream House Restaurant on the day itself

I guess celebration with my family is exactly the same like every other year, filled with foods. This year my family celebrated my birthday a night earlier cause my dad is going outstation on my birthday itself. Plus, my aunt from Kuching was also around KK for business trip that. Thus, we went to my family favorite restaurant at MK Supertanker Restaurant. This restaurant is quite famous and almost full house every night. Thank goodness my mom managed to reserve in advance, or else it will be a long queue.

#5: Travel Fashionista on Birthday Night
Blue tops & pink handbag from Bangkok, skirt & choker necklace from Singapore and earrings from South Korea.

Last but not least, a celebration with dearest Boyfie is what I'm looking forward. For this year itself, seriously I ran out of idea where to have our dinner. Just had Japanese cuisine for the past few days and for sure, I banned fast food as my birthday treat. Ended up, we went Secret Recipe which also we celebrated there back in 2 years.

#6: Birthday dinner in Secret Recipe, Suria Sabah

As for the surprised gift from Boyfie, since I had received a bouquet of lilies from him last year, I told him not to waste money from buying flowers again as it doesn't last long. Received once is seriously enough for me. He even plan to buy me a camera, Samsung Galaxy Camera cause I did told him few times that I wanna have that but at the end, I declined cause I just had Sony Nex 5N as my new toy last year August. So at the end, he made me this:

Birthday 2013 @ Origami Blue Bear by Boyfie
#7: A blue origami bear which he made by himself for almost 2 days. ♥♥♥
Blue is my favourite colour and he know I used to like teddy bear.

I realised sometimes we don't have to value our gift in monetary terms but this one specially handmade by him is something that money can't determine at all. This is what I call "PRICELESS GIFT".

Once again before I end this post, I would like to thanks everyone for the wonderful & lovely birthday wishes. Yesterday was the one and only day of the year where my Facebook, Twitter, Whataaps, SMS even Instagram was showered with the tons of best birthday wishes from you guys. Thanks to all of these bloggers too; Wern Hong, Lily Riani, Dan Arif, Helmi Yusof, Ren/Janggel, Fienuts, Hilda Milda Teo, Charmaine Pua Li Ping, Adam Eben, Aemy Nadira, Caroline Ng May Ling, Sherrie Pui, Daniel Chiam, Nathalie Blue, Wendy Wong, Rayyan Haries, Jeff Chuah, Eudora Priscilla, Fish Szehui, Ivan Chan and many more. (For those who I miss out, I am so sorry cause there are more than 200 birthday wishes I didn't managed to see at all). Till then, may all the wishes and blessings fall upon you guys too. Have an awesome day! Oh ya! I just found out that 10th March is "The International Day of Awesomeness!" What's a coincidence.

My Reflection on 2012 & Resolution for 2013

NOTE: Happy new year to all my readers and how's the new year eve celebration? Well, I had a New Year Eve Movie with my Boyfie, exactly like what I did every year with him.

So, this is my first ever post for the year 2013 and I am gonna share the history of my life throughout year 2012. Unlike the two previous years (here and here) where I summarised them by monthly, this time around I tends to summarise them all in one.

It has been 2 years I had never celebrated Chinese New Year with lively and happening since ever my late grandfather left us. But thanks to everyone especially my friends and Boyfie for cheering up my life and making last year Chinese New Year celebration another remarkable and wonderful moment of my life.
2012 DT CNY
We did 'bai nien" hopping to 5 houses in a day, went Kudat with my family, island hopping with my bestie and not forgetting, plenty of foods throughout this happening celebration.

For the very first time in my life, I received a huge and lovely bouquet of Lily flowers, which is my favourite flower as my birthday gift from Boyfie. Not just that, my very best friend even send "Starbucks Coffee Planner" all the way from Miri, Sarawak cause she knows I have the habit of writing diary since I was 10.
2012 DT Birthday
Thanks to my family and friends for the eventful celebration.

As for my career, I am still working with my family but somehow, I still miss the moment working with my previous employer as I prefer more challenging tasks. Some people said that working with family is a good choice especially in terms of flexibility but for me, there are some pros and cons anyway.

Meanwhile, I am still actively participate myself in Girl Guides Association since I was 10 and I never thought I was being appointed as the Honoury State Treasurer for the Sabah Branch while I was on holiday. The youngest treasurer in the history.
Girl Guides Bagdes
My Girl Guides badges

Relating to my 2012 Resolution that I did posted before, I managed to achieve at least 5 out of 8.
  1. Instead of Canon DSLR or Panasonic camera, I got myself Sony Nex 5N as my new toy.
  2. Started a small business with my Boyfie and my friend by providing accounting services. Although it was just a small business, but I managed to cover at least one of my trip from the income I earned.
  3. Bought few travel magazines to enhance my knowledge not just on travelling, but on writing skills too.
  4. The thing that I thought it was impossible for me to achieve throughout the year, well it turns out to be finally, I did bought my own house. Yes, I do love to travel and I can see that I might devote my life for it but somehow I like to own at least one or two assets which is so called as tangible assets of my own.
  5. Last but not least to travel endlessly. Eventhough I wish to travel at least once a month, but in year 2012, I had travelled 11 times (almost triple times than in year 2010 and 2011) and I am truly satisfied with that. I managed to cover few of the places I listed under "My Travel Bucket List" in DT Travel page.
2012 DT Travel 01
  • Phuket, Thailand in January with my besties. We promised each other that after graduated, we should have at least a trip as our gathering.
  • Kuala Belait, Brunei Darussalam in January too via overland with my family to attend my cousin's wedding.
  • Manila, Philippines in March with my secondary classmates. Absolutely travel in a real budget backpacking style.
  • Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in April with my best friend and another friend of her. First time I travel alone before they arrive on the next day.
  • Ipoh, Perak in May for Girl Guides formal function
  • Bali, Indonesia in August with my collegemate and housemate for another island getaway
  • Hong Kong & Macau in September with my Boyfie cum my birthday present from him
  • Melbourne, Australia in September & October with I had anticipated this for long long time.
  • Bangkok, Thailand in October with my UK classmate solely just for shopping trip
  • Kuching, Sarawak in December for a huge group of family gathering and also food adventurous.
  • Singapore-Malacca-Kuala Lumpur in December which marked as my final year end trip. A family trip which I will plan at least a year.
2012 DT Flight Conclusion, 2012 has been a great and awesome year to me, especially in terms of travelling. I had flew 30 times (26 times AirAsia, twice with AirAsia X and twice with Malaysia Airlines) and visited 9 countries (Thailand, Brunei, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Australia & Singapore) and 14 cities at least, I believe.

For those 2012 resolution which I didn't managed to accomplish will be my resolution for 2013. So, here is a list of my 2013 resolution:
  1. Complete my Europe trip saga and 2011 trips post. Not forgetting my 2012 endlessly travel post.
  2. Revamp, rewrite, reupload and repost my old travel post especially.
  3. Losing some weight to reach my ideal weight by exercise and eat healthy.
  4. To own another tangible asset - buy a new car cause my current Toyota Rav 4 is in bad condition.
  5. Get a diving license. I just love water sport activities.
  6. Might not travel as many as in year 2012 but I hope to travel at least 4 times. I am so desperately wanna travel to Europe and Australia again.
Actually there are so many things happened not just towards my own personal life but my life in blogosphere. I always wanna share about this but don't know where to start from. Hopefully someday I will able to blog about this.

Take the lessons that have learned from year 2012, and then move forward to another brand new year of 2013. New hope, new beginning and new life. Once again, wishing all my readers "Happy New Year 2013"

Hiatus Mode For Third Time

And I pray hardly this will be my last and final time that I set my blog for hiatus mode again for a week from today onwards for a well preparation of my external accounting paper exam - my final and last paper. I did plan to do few pre-scheduled posts but I was too busy for becoming the host for 3 group friends of mine who came to Kota Kinabalu for holiday throughout this whole month; from early of November until yesterday morning, was so busy bringing and showing them around Kota Kinabalu.

Study at resort where I can enjoy the sea view - Helps to relax my mind when I overstress

Therefore, there will be no any post update until my exam ends on next week Monday, 3rd December, then my blog will resume as usual after that. More of these in Travel & Living Journal of DT once the active mode is back:

Snapshot Sunday: The Awesome Bloggers Gathering 2012

For my previous post under "Snapshot Sunday", it was where it served as a showcase of the photo I took from my previous trip and also serve for the purpose to reminiscence my old travel post, especially for the new readers. But for this post, I would like to blog something extraordinary from my usual posts.

Last year, both Armstrong and Rexs aka Aki organised Cute Bloggers Gathering (CBG) but I didn't managed to attend cause I was sick. Actually, for the past few days, I was being "attacked" by flu, cough and sorethroat again but I tried my best to attend for this time around. No regrets of attending this year The Awesome Bloggers Gathering 2012 (#TABG2012) cause I really have fun and at the same time, got to know more new friends/bloggers

#TABG2012

#TABG2012 took place at Party Play Lintas yesterday night, and during the four hours of gathering, we did ice-breaking, exchange gift, makan-makan and last but not least, phototaking is a must-do-things for all the bloggers.

I got to meet few of the bloggers where I stumbled their blog before but never got to meet in real person but yesterday night, I did; Aemy Nadira, Beaty John (so coincidentally, she is colleague of my very best friend), Wendy Wong and of couse, both of the organisers, Armstrong and Rexs aka Aki (his Afro hair is damn real for sure) met them for the very first time. Not forgetting to the four lovely and gorgeous ladies, Dyana Reds, Edith Joimin, Elwyna Hansel and Flo Nara, you gals don't mind to share a table with me eventhough we never know each other at all but you gals never stop from making that I was felt all alone by sharing with tons of interesting and funny conversation. Thank you, gals! And also to the organisers, thanks for organised this awesome and meaningful event/gathering.
"Don't just blog and hide behind of this cyber world, come out to the real world and have some fun with some new friends!"

Hiatus Mode Again!

Sady to declare that I need to set my blog for another hiatus mode again (on hiatus more before this) for a week in order to prepare myself for another war, I means for my external accounting paper. Initially I plan to do this earlier, at least early of this month but seems like blogging has dominating my current daily life.

Hiatus Mode

So, please forgive me if you can't see me doing any blogwalking and even leave comment on your blog due to the limited time given for my revision. Exam will ends on next week Monday, 18th June 2012 and my blog will resume as usual after that. Can't wait to be free as a bird and so many things on the list wish to be done after exam, especially on planning for my upcoming trips. Seriously can't wait for another trips and vacation again.

Goodbye My Passport Stamp Collection

For only being occupied 10 pages out of 32 pages of my previous passport, and now all I can see is just a define clean and without any stamp on this newly 4th passport. Wondering why can't they just change the hard cover of the passport and retain the content of itself? I am truly unhappy and so sad regarding this renewing of passport cause gonna said goodbye to all of the passport stamp collection from my past 5 years of travelling trail and even including visa which is so hard to apply especially the Japan visa.

From my first passport stamp I got in Manchester, United Kingdom until the final passport stamp in Brunei on last January of this year, all of these brought lots of great and priceless memories to me which nothing can replace with. Imagine from the moment you reach the destination and got the stamp from the immigration officer, there it goes the beginning of every journey and unforgettable path for a newly or even similar places that you visited until the end of the final travel date.

Visited 22 countries within these 5 years and received countless of passport stamp collection together with 2 visa applied is truly one of the best moments in my life which I couldn't forget forever. Hopefully with my this newly passport, I hope I could get more passport stamp collection but the most importantly is the experience I will gain and learn throughout every places and cities I will going to.

Passport Cover
My passport cover which I bought from Everland, South Korea. Adorable or not?

Last but not least, I would like to inform that this is my scheduled post by the way as I'm now on my way to get my first passport stamp collection on my 4th passport. So, this is my 23rd country that I am going to visit now. Stay tune to find out where on earth am I right now.wink

*Gonna travel for 16 days - from 20th March until 8th April . In between, will stopby in KL for flight connection*

m.y. B.I.R.T.H.D.A.Y 2012

Seriously, I really have no idea what to put for the title of this post, hence I decided just to make it short and simple. I seldom blog about my life currently cause I prefer to tweet and my this blog serve as my travel journal to reflect of all my past travel experience and adventures. Somehow, I still will blog of my personal lifestyle once in a while, therefore I added "Living" as part of my blog title.

Another year has passed and here comes another year celebration of my birthday. Yeap, my birthday was yesterday and I am really truly blessed with all the blast celebration together with family, friends and boyfie.

Even my very best friend courier a "Starbucks Coffee Planner" all the way from Miri cause she knows that I have the habit of writing diary since I was 10.

Birthday 01 - Starbucks Planner from Miri
Thanks to Chris and this is my first present for the year.

Almost every year (if I'm around KK) definitely I will celebrate with my dearest crazy bestie which we met since in secondary school until now. My friends who has been with me for more than 10 year.*

We are always crazy, young and wild. I really having a great and wonderful time when I with them and they are really indeed complete part of my life.

As early on my birthday itself, I received unexpected surprise from my dearest boyfie.

He gave me a bouquet of lilies which is my favourite flowers. My jaw is really almost drop to the floor when I received this and I never expecting this at all. Frankly speaking, I never receive any flowers from guys before. Yes, I did received quite a lot but it was during my college/university graduation. He can be that sweet and romantic sometimes. Thanks boyfie ♥♥♥
Birthday 02 - Flowers from Boyfie

A birthday celebration wouldn't so call if not celebrate with family. Initially, we decided to have Chinese foods for dinner but unfortunately, the one that we plan to dine-in closed down. Therefore, we plan to go to nearby Japanese restaurant. My boyfie also tagged along with us.
Birthday 03 - Japanese Birthday Dinner
Yoshimi Japanese Restaurant, Warisan Square. Thanks mommy for the treat.

Last but not least, a cake is a must to complete this birthday celebration. Early of this year, I had decided to have ice-cream cake as my birthday cake. But in KK, we don't have those famous ice-cream chain outlet such as Haagen Dazs and Baskin Robbins. So this mission to have ice-cream cake seems impossible unless you order it earlier from the normal bakery shop. Thanks to my deariest Wawa for informed me that we still have this local ice-cream outlet that selling ice-cream cake too.

Birthday 04 - Ice Cream Cake
Bought 2 pieces cause there are only 4 of us (mommy, lil bro, boyfie & me. Dad went China for business trip). The taste of this ice-cream makes me feels like in paradise.

I would like to thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes, either via facebook, SMS or even twitter. I am truly happy and delightful to receive all the wishes from you all. Not forgeting to all these bloggers for the meaningful birthday wishes; Hilda Teo, Rosyln Kong, Charmaine Pua Li Ping, Kemang, Mariah Doksil, Helmi John, Teo Jun Fook, Henry Tan, Priscilla Needsahug Tawie,
Richard Lex, Iz Cawan, Jeff Chuah, Tom Rungitom, and Fish Szehui, Thanks to you all. YOU GUYS ROCK MY WOLRD!!
